Both sides have accused each other of initiating the attack, effectively breaking the ceasefire period, which has failed to produce results despite repeated negotiations.

As a result, oil prices rose slightly in the morning. However, prices remain within the same range seen over recent days, which have generally been characterized by declines. Oil prices later fell during the afternoon, and it is clear that this crisis is creating widespread uncertainty among investors, as there is still no clear indication regarding the facts on the ground or a definite end to the conflict.

Brent crude futures are trading at $100.03 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude stands at $94.69 per barrel. Oil prices have not experienced sharp movements since the exchange of fire, which suggests that markets have become accustomed to such tensions eventually leading back to the negotiating table.

U.S. President Donald Trump commented that the ceasefire period remains in effect, and that the U.S. administration continues to communicate with its Iranian counterpart in an effort to continue negotiations. According to Iranian sources, U.S. military forces fired on an Iranian oil tanker, in addition to launching attacks on other areas.

The American response stated that the attack was retaliation for Iranian gunfire directed at a group of U.S. vessels, emphasizing that the action was merely defensive in nature. According to the U.S. position, Iran initiated the aggression and escalated hostilities in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump described the incident as “just a minor strike,” despite the fact that the action clearly violated the ceasefire agreement.

The United Arab Emirates also announced that it was targeted by Iranian drones and attacks on Friday morning. It is worth noting that the UAE had already faced attacks from the Iranian side earlier this week. The UAE has often been a target during periods of heightened hostility between the two sides, as Gulf countries are aligned with the United States and host American military bases on their territories.

U.S. Dollar Index

The U.S. dollar declined during today’s trading session, although it also remained within the price range seen over the past few days. In the final trading session of the week, it can be said that the dollar moved sideways throughout the week.

In the gold market, the yellow metal rose slightly this morning, though it is now stabilizing after gains recorded in recent days.
